Adoption Page
It all begain several months ago. My husband and I stopped at an animal shelter on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and we IMMEDIATELY fell in love with a Long-Coated Female Chihuahua. We were ready to bring her home with us, but, to our dismay, we discovered that she had already been adopted. We were simply UNABLE to get "Susie-Q" out of our minds, so I made the decision to surf the Net for Chihuahua breeders. In doing so, I came upon a breeder in Oklahoma, D&T's Paw Paw Patch, and I wrote to them and asked if they had any available Long-Coated Female Adult Chihuahuas. I received a response almost immediately, informing me that they did not, but that they knew of another breeder in Oklahoma who DID have one who needed to go to a special home. So, I wrote to Brenda right away and asked about the dog. The AMAZING part is that while Brenda was praying for a good home for PEBBLES, I was sitting here in Maryland praying for a dog just like PEBBLES. Tomorrow is April 15th... which marks one month since PEBBLES' arrival here in Maryland. I have NEVER seen a sweeter, more docile dog than my PEBBLES. When she entered THIS HOUSE.....she became one of seven animals. I had recently lost my sweet and wonderful Italian Greyhound, Lia, who died suddenly last August. Lia and Sammy J. Fox, my Beagle, were inseparable. It broke my heart to watch him mourn for her. I felt in my heart that PEBBLES and Sammy would make a GREAT TEAM, and I was so right! Now, I am happy to report that Sammy and PEBBLES are inseparable!!! All of my animals are rescues, and I love each and every one of them so very much! The other dog in residence here is Petri, a large male Italian Greyhound, who had been badly abused before he was brought to us. I was a bit concerned about bringing "a new baby" in, because he had come so far in the past year and a half. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, he adores PEBBLES! If I am holding her, he MUST sit right next to me on the sofa! Also "permitting us to live with them"..... are our four fluffy kitties. Again, I was concerned because PEBBLES had never even seen a cat! Am again happy to report that they accepted her warmly and she walks right by them with no hesitation. PEBBLES sleeps in bed with me every single night.... she has taken one of the "kitty doughnut beds" as her very own. I make sure she has her baby blanket on her always..... after all, SHE IS MY BABY! She just began going up the stairs..... (and down them too)! We live in a townhouse with a great big backyard, so she has plenty of room to run..... and she can certainly run FAST! LOL I am planning on having a professional picture taken of OUR GAL PEBBLES in her new "outfit". Yes, I am one of those crazy people who LOVES clothing for little tiny doggies! Unfortunately, that's an area in which PEBBLES and I are in disagreement! However, I AM putting her fancy outfit on her and taking her to the Photography Studio as soon as I am assured that she will at least sit up when she is wearing it! lol. Her "dressy" outfit consists of a picture hat with ribbon ties and an off-white VERY FANCY sweater with lace and pearls on it! And I PROMISED Brenda that I would send her a picture of OUR PEBBLES wearing this outfit.... which I am going to do! Ohhhhhhh.....I almost forgot ......... I put PEBBLES into her PET SLING BAG and we went on our very first Field Trip last week. I thought it only appropriate that our new Chihuahua should pay a visit to TACO BELL.... which she did! In finding Brenda, I have been blessed. Not only has PEBBLES come into our home and graced it with her presence, but I have found a WONDERFUL new friend in Brenda. We couldn't be happier! And..... I am hoping that PEBBLES and I will be able to fly out to Oklahoma to visit with Brenda and Ken very soon!
Thank you Brenda! Hugs, Elaine Kaufman
