Far off in a distant pasture he stands.
Head held high, ears alert, body tense.
Beautiful long soft silky mane and tail,
Gently blowing in the warm spring breeze.
He's waiting, watching and listening.
He knows and he senses her presence near.
He feels her slow unsteady footfall.
He spots her limping into view.
Closer she moves towards him gently calling.
He slowly carefully walks to her side.
A hand reaches out and gently strokes him.
Speaking low she tells him of her pain.
She turns walking slowly back towards home.
Just as slowly he follows at her side.
Patiently he stands as she saddles him.
They move to the mounting stand and she mounts.
He carries her over pasture and across streams.
They race the wind, glorying in their freedom.
Time stops as two creatures of God become one.
One imperfect, the other perfect, sharing the gift of life.
